Required for September 2017

In September 2017, one of the largest alternative provision free schools in the country is planned to open in Leeds. Part of the high performing GORSE Academies Trust, The Stephen Longfellow Academy will change the face of alternative provision education in Leeds, whilst at the same time changing the life chances of thousands of children in our city for ever.

The Stephen Longfellow Academy will over time provide 300 places spread evenly across Key Stages 1, 2, 3 and 4 with a determination to combine exceptional standards of therapeutic and psychiatric support with the very highest levels of academic ambition for every child.  It is the Trust’s intention to look afresh at the whole concept of alternative provision and to establish a model of excellence which we believe will be of national significance.

A proven and highly successful teacher from an education, early years setting or child and adolescent mental health/care background, could be the person who helps to lead and shape the primary phase of our academy, into a truly dynamic, forward looking provision with a strong outreach element to complement the great work of our local primary schools. It may well be the case that you already have extensive experience in the alternative provision sector or it could be that you would be making a move into that sector for the first time following on from your significant achievements in your career so far.

Excited by this unique challenge?  We would love to hear from you. If you would like a further discussion, by phone or in person please contact Christine Watson, PA to Executive Principal Sir John Townsley on 0113 3945262 she will put you in touch with either Sir John Townsley, Executive Principal, Mark Randall, Director of Primary Education or Belinda Logan, Principal Designate.
